Chandelier
Silver, England, Birmingham, 1806.
This very attractive chandelier is attributed to Matthew Boulton (Birmingham 1728-1809), a British industrialist whose name is associated with James Watt. He founded the Soho Manufactory in 1762 and manufactured metallic art objects there. An ingenious industrialist and a model boss, he perfected a system of social insurances for his employees and always refused to employ young children.
